FEATURES
This programme can be taken in part-time or practice-integrated form. The part-time variant combines the Bachelor studies with a practical training job. The practice-integrated variant places emphasis on complete vocational training, where students usually work in healthcare and social welfare facilities. Students can therefore benefit from studying and working in parallel.

The Management in Healthcare and Social Facilities study programme will help our graduates fulfill these exact requirements needed in practices, clinics and social welfare facilities. Not only will you be equipped with the knowledge about business administration necessary to manage an organization, you will also be familiar with the regulations, laws and the framework of the German health and social services. Your prospective central role as a manager for practices, clinics and social welfare facilities today will enhance the efficiency of the healthcare and social welfare system of the future.

Programme outline

This programme will begin with the foundation of problem-based learning (PBL). The introductory module focuses on independent learning and self-organization, followed by three introductory courses in core areas – economics, the healthcare system as well as business administration and management. This lays the foundation for later semesters. By taking these tailor-made seminars to understand the German healthcare and social-welfare system, students can acquaint themselves step-by-step with their occupational responsibility.

Study programme MGMT Healthcare and Social Facilities

More projects are added in the fifth and sixth semesters: Here, you combine theory and practice. In the research project, you will apply what you have learned to your future profession. And you will also study scientific procedures and methods. Of course, you can incorporate your own findings from the research project later in your Bachelor thesis.

In the practical module, students recap their knowledge from the previous five semesters. This will be applied to a concrete business case, as students write a complete business plan before presenting it to a jury of experts where it will be discussed.

Graduation requirements include a Bachelor thesis and a follow-up colloquium, where candidates will present and defend their research methods and results of their own thesis with a group of experts.


Obtaining the degree

This programme can be taken as a part-time or practice-integrated variant. We strongly recommend a combination of work/training and study so that both theory and practical skills attained from this programme can be used. Students will spend around 12.5 hrs/week in class and work at least 15 hrs/week with our university partner organisations.


Core competencies

Health and Social Managers are well aware of the ins and outs of health and welfare facilities. They are educated in all business and organisational issues. The Health and Social Manager assumes responsibility for the organisation and, if necessary, can also manage a team. In ambulatory care, they can introduce a professional recall system, for example. Graduates support doctors and dentists with disease management programmes, integrated care contracts or similar important projects. In quality management, billing issues and other organisational matters, they are able to take responsibility and can provide expert help.

In light of the lack of skilled workers in the healthcare system, it is increasingly important that non-medical activities can be delegated. Health and Social Mangers are competent experts in their field. They have interdisciplinary training in order to understand and penetrate the relationship of the service providers and the healthcare providers. In other words, they are trained for the healthcare system of the future.

All applicants who fulfill the formal requirements will be invited to a personal interview. An invitation will follow submission of your application.


Tuition Fees 

The tuition fee is 450 EUR per month.
